Just been reading the WSJ announcement of Publicis buying Razorfish. This paragraph struck me as being, well, remarkable:
"As part of the pact, Publicis, which works on behalf of advertisers such as General Motors Corp. and Procter & Gamble Co., will purchase hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising over several years across Microsoft's digital properties, including its newly launched search engine, Bing."
If I was a client at Publicis I'd be asking some rather tough questions of my next media plan.
Wow. That is a shocker. The most startling thing to me is how limted the choices will actually be, Microsoft is MSN, Bing (nothing to write how about) and - what else? The XBOX marketplace. Other than stripping in banners on MSN you are left with very little to work with.
You would think that they would keep this part of the deal secret and hide it somewhere.

Not a bad move. They have now created as big customer for its Bing search engine.

Why is it that I keep thinking of Microsoft as an underdog lately?
They seems to be making one bad decision after another. Hopefully this works out well for them.

I'm amazed, I have to admit. Seldom do I come across a blog that's both educative and engaging, and let me tell you, you've hit the nail on the head. The problem is something which too few people are speaking intelligently about. I'm very happy that I stumbled across this during my hunt for something relating tto this.
