I'm a big fan of the Pixies so I was surprised to learn from reading their new oral history Fool The World of a local landmark I knew nothing about.
About 200 yards from where I live is the Cyclorama. Underneath this used to exist a recording studio called Downtown Recorders where the band recorded what I think is my favorite album of all time Doolittle. I almost feel that someone should put one of those blue plaques from London outside marking the location as significant.
It surprises me how little we know about our neighborhood nowadays compared to all the other stuff in the world we know from the internet, TV, etc. I think it's time after being here for more than two years to try and find some more local secrets.
At the very least it's deserving of a Yellow Arrow treatment...
