Adfreak has posted a story about a new bilboard (above) in New York that has started a lot of online chatter about whether this is real vengeance or some kind of teaser marketing campaign. There's also now a link to Emily's blog whose language suggests it may be real and hints at more delights to come.
If it is real, this has to go down as one of the greatest pieces of vengeance on a cheating partner ever. Also, it's probably the best use of public media for private thoughts/messages since the Wonderbra campaign in the UK many years ago. If it isn't, it's certainly got a lot of people talking, but I hope the payoff won't let me down.
Anyone know if it's fake or real?

2/1 that it is a fake - probably for the TV show 'CHEATERS' or some divorce lawyer - but I hope it isn't because that would brilliant.

Reads like a fiction novel (almost a little to Bridget Jones) - a book promo?

i think you're both probably right that it's fake. read the blog again and it feels almost too long in the postings and too well written to the point where a lot of the emotion has gone. and i think you're right that it's going to be for some entertainment brand. just hope the payoff is good.

And as soon as all is revealed, our interest doesn't just die - it becomes one of silent distain as we don't like the idea we 'fell for something' - especially given we're in advertising.
Us humans are weird!

fake. someone was handing out "lost dog" flyers this morning at penn station with the guy's picture and the blog address. you're less likely to feel burned by something like this if people can appreciate the cleverness of the idea and how it's executed. here's the link to the sleuths who sniffed it out:
