So, the APG conference is over. Has been since Wednesday.
I just realized that there was one presentation that deserves some recognition. Nick Barnham from TBWA China offered up a compelling main-stage presentation about his experience as a stranger in a strange land, the state of branding in China and the simplicity of inspiration. He offered up a simple mathematical formula for the audience: new stuff + you = inspiration (N+U=I).
Being a Brit living in Mainland China, his idea of “new stuff” may be a bit extreme. The beauty of his presentation was that it left the audience feeling that they could be just as inspired in their own backyard. This was the first time that I really felt that the conference genuinely lived up to its "inspiration" theme.
Regarding his specific experience in China, I think it can be summed up by one simple insight. China has the biggest skatepark in the world, but not so many skaters. Something tells me that this is going to change.
